Pupil Premium Grant

Pupil premium funding is allocated to schools for pupils who are:

  • eligible for free school meals at any time in the last 6 years
  • looked after children and previously looked after children
  • children of armed service personnel

The aim of the Pupil Premium is to close the overall gap in achievement, that is seen in these pupil groups nationally. Schools have freedom to spend this money in any way they choose to raise the attainment and meet the emotional and social needs of these pupils. There is a requirement for schools to publish online information about how this sum of money was spent and how it impacted on attainment during the last academic year, and how the money will be spent over the current academic year.

PE and Sport Premium

The school is allocated an annual PE & Sports Premium Grant which is used to extend the provision of high quality sports delivery by professional coaches.  Our coaches aim is to help all children achieve their personal best and equip teachers with the tools necessary to provide similarly high quality coaching in physical education and a range of sports. This forms part of the school’s approach to promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Our children enjoy a wide range of learning ‘outside the classroom’ and participate in our Let’s Explore days, which are held at various outside venues in the locality.

During Let’s Explore days children participate in a range of forest school activities and learn the essential life skills that build resilience, encourage communication skills and team work and instill a belief in their ability to succeed as they move through primary to secondary education and into the world of work.

With the benefit of this added dimension and additional support and resources being made available to them, our children are empowered emotionally, socially, spiritually and academically to become more confident learners, able to access all areas of the school’s curriculum.

Schools are required to publish annually on their website the number of employees (if any) earning over £100,000 per annum.
This information is required to be published in bands of £10,000. At 01/09/2025 no staff at Freshford Church School earn more than £100,000 per annum.
